Sergio Rodriguez is a photographer whose work explores human connection, character and the stories that can be found within everyday life. Working primarily in black and white, he is drawn to moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed: a glance between strangers, a fleeting expression, the bond between a person and their pet, or the quiet theatre of everyday interactions.
Born and raised in Medellín, Colombia, Sergio developed an early fascination with observing people. Growing up in a close-knit community, where lives were often lived in public and stories travelled quickly between neighbours, he became intrigued by the small details that reveal who we are. This curiosity continues to shape his practice today.
After studying advertising and working in portrait photography in both Colombia and Ecuador, Sergio moved to the UK, where further studies introduced him to street photography and some of his most enduring influences, including Henri Cartier-Bresson, Brassaï and Sebastião Salgado. Their ability to tell stories through a single frame continues to inspire his approach.
Whether photographing strangers on the street or creating more intimate portraits, Sergio seeks images that invite viewers to pause and look more closely. He is interested in the questions a photograph can leave behind rather than the answers it provides. A smile, a wrinkle, a gesture or a moment of reflection can become the beginning of a story imagined by the viewer.
Through his work, Sergio aims to celebrate the individuality of ordinary people and the beauty that exists in everyday moments. His photographs are both observations and invitations: an opportunity to look, wonder and connect.
