DAN & SERG x ROB MAKIN
Rob Makin is a content creator and OnlyFans star who recently appeared on Channel 4’s Handcuffed, where he was partnered with Charlie Gray. Known for his imposing physique, extensive tattoos and larger-than-life presence, Rob has built a substantial following online.
It was Charlie who first approached Dan about the possibility of collaborating. That conversation led to Rob stepping in front of Serg’s camera for a portrait session – and ultimately to a body of work that would become an important part of PERSONAE.
The photoshoot produced a striking series of portraits exploring different sides of Rob's character and physical presence.
Moving between carefully composed portraiture and more intimate full-length nude studies, Serg's photographs explore strength alongside vulnerability, asking what happens when someone usually associated with physical stature and confidence allows themselves simply to be observed.
The resulting images will be exhibited as a series at PERSONAE, offering a more intimate perspective on a familiar face.
From Photography to Painting
But the collaboration didn't end when the camera was put away. One of Serg's photographs caught Dan's imagination and became the starting point for one of the largest paintings in PERSONAE.
Rather than simply reproducing the photograph, Dan transformed the original image through paint, bringing his own interpretation, atmosphere and imagination to the portrait.
Displayed within the same exhibition, the photographs and painting allow visitors to see Rob through two different artistic perspectives – first captured through Serg's lens and then reimagined through Dan's painting.
It is this exchange between photography and painting that sits at the heart of Dan & Serg's creative partnership, and the Rob Makin collaboration has become one of the clearest examples of how their two practices can inform and inspire one another.

This photographic series and painted portrait will be unveiled as part of PERSONAE, Dan & Serg's first collaborative exhibition in Brighton.
Rob will also be joining Dan & Serg at the Private View on Thursday 10 September, alongside his Handcuffed partner Charlie Gray.
